Travel, Visas and accommodation

There are two options to enter Kathmandu, Nepal.

1. Flight

Kathmandu is well connected via international flights to many cities around the world. Tribhuvan International Airport is about 20 minutes drive from the centre of the Kathmandu. There are taxis available at the airport, which may charge you around NRS 300-400.

  1. There are domestic flights to Kathmandu from various points of Nepal in the southern bordering areas to India. People entering Nepal via land from Uttarakhand, UP, Bihar, and West Bengal can fly from Bhadrapur, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Bhairahawa, Nepaljung, and Dhangadhi to Kathmandu.

2. Road

There are number of options to travel to Kathmandu via road from the southern Nepal. You can travel to Kathmandu from the cities viz. Kakarbhitta, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Birjung, Bhairahawa, Nepaljung, Dhangadhi, and Mahendranagar by buses. The travel time ranges from 5 hours to 20 hours. Please leave enough time for the travel.


Indian Citizens do not need visa however they need to carry an identity card (which can be the passport itself) that has got a photograph. For other foreign nationals, visa is required. Please visit the following website for detail information regarding visa and related regulations:


For accommodation participants and presenters bear their expenses on their own. However, we suggest some hotels at appropriate locations with various rates which can be useful to you. For this, please visit LSN website.

Temperature: It is cold during the end of November. We suggest that you come with some warm clothes. The temperature goes to 4/5 degree Celsius during the night time although it is warm in the day time when it is particularly sunny.

Communication: If you wish to have a local (Nepalese) sim card, you can obtain it as soon as you enter the border of Nepal or the international airport. You will need to produce a copy of your passport main page and two passport size photographs. Nepal Tele Communication (NTC) and  NCELL the popular sim card provider here in Nepal. For your kind information, the conference venue will not have internet facility.

Presentation mode and time: We appreciate if you have power point presentation. The rooms will be equipped with computer and multimedia projector. Please make it sure that your file is compatible with Microsoft system. The time for the presentation is 20 minutes and there will be 10 minutes for the discussion. The participants may expect your handouts. We suggest that you prepare the required copies of your presentation on your own. The number of participants cannot exactly be guessed now, as the participants select the session of their choice. There will be about 100-150 participants and 3-4 parallel sessions.
